The Gear Rules - describes all rules relevant to gear that is acceptable for use at Pony Club.  PCV publications refer to “gear” as an abbreviation for saddlery, equipment and uniform.

The gear specified within this rule book is a necessary requirement of riding, designed to provide:

  • Safety for the rider
  • Comfort and safety for the horse
  • Compliance with competition rules

How often are these rules reviewed?

These rules are reviewed annually.  New Edition January each year.

Who should read the Gear Rules?

Everybody! - Riders, Parents, Club & Zone Committees, Event Organizers. Don't rely on your memory, refer to the Rules.

Helmet Standard

Helmet Standards: PCV is following Pony Club Australia and Equestrian Australia on Helmet Standards.

Please note that the full citation for the VG1 is VG1 (01.040: 2014-12). VG1 on the helmet label is sufficient to pass gear check.
