PCV COVID-19 UPDATE | 14 MARCH 2020, 9:50PM
Pony Club Victoria (PCV) has received advice from the Department of Sport, Recreation & Racing that events attracting greater than 500 attendees should be cancelled effective Monday 16 March 2020.
This is to help contain the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Therefore effective from Monday March 16, all Pony Club events with potential to attract more than 500 attendees must be cancelled or organisers should look to reduce participation numbers to ensure the event can safely go ahead. This requirement will apply until further notice.
We will provide a further update early in the week.
Please see communication below from the Department of Sport, Recreation & Racing.
ATTENTION SPORT, REC & RACING INDUSTRY
Due to the outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), health authorities have advised that all non-essential, organised public gatherings of 500 or more people should be cancelled from Monday 16 March 2020.
As a result, event organisers and venue operators are advised to postpone their scheduled events with more than 500 people or look to reduce crowd numbers to ensure the event can safely go ahead.
For sporting and racing clubs and active recreation organisations, the current advice is that public gatherings with less than 500 people can continue to be held.
You can help keep your players, club members and visitors healthy by encouraging them to practice good hygiene.

For some organisations, this decision will cause significant disruptions to your operations. These decisions by our health authorities have not been made lightly and these steps are being taken to minimise the spread of infection and keep Victorians safe.
The relevant health authorities have committed to reviewing the situation every day and they will continue to keep us informed if the advice on public gatherings changes.
The Department of Health and Human Services is working around the clock with health services, the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments, and international agencies to respond to the outbreak.
